Halloween Treat Bags and a Tutorial

I am so happy that I got to spend some crafty time this past weekend up in my scraproom. One of the projects I worked on was these adorable treat bags for Halloween. The treat bags feature the Boo Crew collection from Close To My Heart and I cannot wait to fill them with candy for my co-workers this Halloween.

 The treat bag uses cardstock for the base and patterned paper for embellishments. I added some stamped images from the Boo Crew Stamp Set for some additional fun. I have included a link to a PDF of instructions at the end of this post as well as a process video.

To create this treat bag first cut a piece of 12"x12" cardstock to 10 1/2" x 6".  Score along the 10 1/2" side at 2", 5", 7" and 10" then score along the 6" side at 2". Cut away the small tab and cut up to the 2" score line as shown in the diagram. Fold along the score lines. 

Adhere pieces of patterned paper to the front and back panels as shown. The panels are 3" x 4" in size. I used a 3" x 2 1/2" piece of patterned paper along with a 3" x 1 1/2" piece of cardstock on the front panel and added a 3" piece of a Zip Strip across. 

Using strong tape, adhere the side tab behind the front panel then fold in each of the bottom tabs and adhere using strong tape to form the base. I also pinched in the sides at the top to accommodate the top cover.

Cut a 3" circle from cardstock and fold it along its diameter at 1 1/2". I adhered a 2 1/2" circle of patterned paper to this and then punched 2 holes about 1 1/4" apart along the fold line. Thread some ribbon through the holes and adhered along the back. 

Adhere this circle to the back of the treat bag using strong tape. To help keep it closed I added a Velcro dot under the front of the circle and to the front panel of the bag.

Add some stamped elements to embellish. Fill with candy or other treats and share for a fun Halloween goodie.
